Located in northern Tanzania at the base of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park forms an important part of Tanzania’s famous Northern Safari Circuit, alongside Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park.
The park is centered around the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara, which covers a large portion of the park and attracts thousands of flamingos and other water birds during certain seasons.
Lake Manyara is especially famous for its rare tree-climbing lions, a unique behavior that makes wildlife viewing here particularly exciting. Visitors can also spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and a wide variety of birdlife in the park’s forests, wetlands, and open plains.
