Located in southern Tanzania, Ruaha National Park is one of the country’s best-kept safari secrets. Covering more than 20,000 square kilometers, it offers dramatic landscapes of open savannah, rocky hills, and baobab forests. The park is part of the larger Rungwa–Kizigo–Muhesi Ecosystem, which supports an incredible variety of wildlife.
Ruaha is famous for its large elephant herds, impressive lion prides, and the scenic Great Ruaha River, which attracts animals throughout the year. Because the park receives fewer visitors than the northern safari circuit, travelers enjoy a more private and immersive safari experience surrounded by untouched wilderness.
