Located in southern Tanzania, Nyerere National Park is part of Tanzania’s Southern Safari Circuit and was formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve. The park covers a huge area of untouched wilderness with rivers, lakes, savannah plains, and woodlands.
The Rufiji River is the lifeline of the park and creates a rich ecosystem that attracts many animals and bird species. The river is famous for its large populations of hippos and crocodiles, and it is one of the best places in Tanzania to enjoy a boat safari.
Visitors can see a wide variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and many antelope species. The park is also home to African wild dogs, one of the rarest predators in Africa.
Because of its remote location and large size, Nyerere National Park offers a peaceful safari experience with fewer visitors compared to other popular parks.
